Our Family Coalition is an LGBTQ family justice organization in San Francisco, California where I interned for 10 weeks during the summer of 2021. As an intern, I created educational materials and lesson plans in compliance with the Fair Education Act which mandates that schools teach LGBTQ history in schools.
The Orange County Rape Crisis Center is a non-profit aimed at ending sexual violence and rape. I am the Youth Education Assistant for the organization and my job is to assist the Youth Education Coordinator in monitoring and facilitating their SafeTouch and Start Strong k-12 consent and sexual education programming. I also assist in creating virtual content for both of these programs, including but not limited to animated videos and podcast episodes.
Emancipate NC is an organization centered around dismantling structural racism and mass incarceration in North Carolina. I am intern at the organization, where I aid in the Justice League program. I am also the bridge between the organization's work in educating the community on elected officials and UNC through my position as policy chair of the Criminal Justice Awareness and Advocacy organization on campus.
As an intern I have written articles on defunding the police and removing SROs from schools and the legality of North Carolina's DPS COVID Motels in Durham and participated in an IG on electoral politics with NJJN, both can be found here:
